New Grades 5 & 6 Middle School
The New Grades 5 & 6 Middle School is a 125,000 sf building that is currently under construction. This middle school is part of a phased, District-Wide Master Plan that we completed for Muhlenberg School District, which included this new school, renovations to the existing Junior High and High School, two new turf fields, and reworking of parking and internal campus roadway to improve traffic flow.
This new school houses a three-story academic wing. In this academic wing, the unified arts, autistic support classrooms, main office and guidance suites are found on the 1st floor. There is state of the art two-story innovation center that provides a flexible learning space for students with a learning staircase, connection to an FCS room, library stacks, and an AV studio. On the second and third floors of the academic wings are the classrooms; each level is separated by grade with smaller classrooms for small group learning scattered throughout. The classrooms are designed with marker boards on all sides of the room, smart screen, and flexible seating to encourage teachers to explore new teaching methods. The district gymnasium, cafeteria, and music classrooms are in a one-story activity wing that can be used by the public in the evening and weekend while closing off the academic wing.
