Lancaster Parking Authority

November 4, 2014

East King Street Parking Garage

Growth in downtown Lancaster, PA led to a need for parking in the central business district. The East King Street Garage fulfills this need, while honoring the city's historic urban architecture and complying with the Historical Architectural Review Board (HARB) for urban infill. Attention to detail on the facade subtly integrates the new garage into the urban fabric. The brick and concrete materials hint at the appearance of the previously existing buildings. The scale of the facade elements relates to the size of neighboring structures, so the garage is not visually dominating. At the street level, entrances and signage provide aesthetic continuity with adjacent commercial storefronts.
